Project 2025: Is It a Thing of the Past or a Ghost Here to Haunt Us?

Project 2025 was something that we heard often about prior to the 2024 Presidential election. Since the change in administration, the conversations surrounding the topic have died down significantly. Is this because the Project is no longer in action, or is it being slowly implemented without gaining proper media attention?

Breaking Down Breaking News

Project 2025 was created by the right-wing foundation, The Heritage Foundation, with the intention of "deconstructing the administrative state." This comes with the claim that the United States government has outgunned and outmatched the far right. The project is built using four pillars as its foundation: Mandate for Leadership, an online personnel database, a Presidential Administration Academy, and a playbook implementing policy ideas from the aforementioned Mandate for Leadership. The Heritage Foundation is of the belief that Trump's first presidential term was the "best chance to reverse the left's incessant march of progress for its own sake," and Project 2025 is an attempt to reverse any progress made by the democratic party.

There is a LOT to unpack here, so let's break this down to the bones.

The Four Pillars of Project 2025

The four pillars of Project 2025 sound very intense and compact, so the primary goal at this moment is to dissect them in an effort to better understand not only the contents but the purpose of the project. To begin, the first pillar- a Mandate for Leadership- speaks directly to a version of success that the contributing conservatives deem acceptable. According to The Heritage Foundation website, there are over 350 "leading conservatives" that have contributed to this vision for conservative success. The next pillar, an online personnel database, has been given the moniker the "Conservative LinkedIn." Its purpose is to provide other hardcore conservatives with a place to connect and obtain roles in the Trump administration. The Presidential Administration Academy, the third pillar of the project, is a means to educate those that make it into the administration and pivot them towards the true conservative way. The final pillar of the project is the playbook. This will take the policies from the Mandate for Leadership and put them into play. This includes, but is not limited to, designated appointees, new regulations and executive orders that need to be signed, using the intricacies of government to combat the conservative party's most pressing issues, etc. These pillars prove that Project 2025 is a skillfully constructed plan to infiltrate the United States government from every conceivable angle.

Included Policies

While the foundation of the project is all well and good, what needs more focus are the policies included in Project 2025- some of which that have already been implemented.

For example:

  • gutting abortion access

  • mass deportations

    • target immigrant communities through mass deportations and raids

    • end birthright citizenship

    • separate families

    • dismantle the asylum system

  • improper usage of government surveillance

  • limit voting access

  • censorship

  • elimination of the Head Start program

  • cutting funding for climate change projects

  • eliminate the system of checks and balances

In Gen Z Terms

This is comparable to the founding of Panem (Hunger Games) or Divergent. This is the inception of the oppressive regieme. This is the book of rules that created the 12 districts and allowed a system that forced children to hunt one another for entertainment. This is the creation of the rules that hunted down Divergents (aka those that do not conform to the rules of society) and used their diverse way of thinking as a way to further oppress the population. This is the rule book for the first annual hunger games.

IMO (In My Opinion)

Project 2025 gained a lot of media attention back in 2024, yet during the Trump administration the noise surrounding the project has lessened and lessened. Why is this? One of the key factors of the implementation phase of Project 2025 is censorship. It is this writer's opinion that media censorship is in full effect, and as a result, the government's steady takeover of democracy is not being televised to its full potential. What's more, those that speak out against the project and administration are being condemned by the government and ostracized for exercising a fundamental constitutional right.

As I stated in my earlier analogy, this is the inception of Panem. Oppressive regimes have key characteristics, and the United States is showing very severe symptoms. On the United States government's website, the oppressive regime of Iran is described in immense detail, but interestingly enough, uses language that applies to the current state of US internal affairs. The site states clearly that "regime elites squander the people's resources and opportunities, while suppressing freedom and basic human rights." Interesting. Below are traits of an oppressive regime highlighted by Carlota Esguevillas of the EdenTree group. Any of these sound familiar?

Project 2025 is yet another example of why staying up to date with the current politics is crucial, especially in this country. I have said it before and will say it again, the current administration is counting on our ignornace to get away with dismantling the foundation of our democracy. With the above information in mind, I urge you to pay very close attention to current events. This applies even moreso to the policies that are being enacted in cabinet. Just a few weeks ago, on April 29th of 2026, the Supreme Court ruled that a congressional map that would create a second black district in the state of Louisiana was unconstitutional and racial gerrymandering. This is a very stealthy way to continually oppress black people and their voting rights. On May 6th, the motion to recall this ruling was denied. This news is extremely concerning because it has now opened the gates for states to propose bills that take away the voting rights of minorities in their respective communities.

The Supreme Court ruling is a prime example of the execution of Project 2025. I urge every reader again to pay very close attention to current events and to REGISTER TO VOTE. While the presidential election is a bit of a ways away, voting in local elections is equally as important and often overlooked. Americans would not have to worry about our rights being revoked if we elect officials at a state level who fight tirelessly to preserve constitutional rights. GO VOTE. Read an article. Watch the news. I know it can be depressing, but educating ourselves is the strongest weapon we have against this oppressive administration.
