The Trump administration has created a fund, priced at $1.7 billion, to compensate the January 6th rioters that believe they were wrongfully prosecuted by the Biden administration’s justice department. This fund is titled the “Anti-Weaponization Fund,” and follows Trump's pardoning and commuting of sentences of the insurrectionists that were charged with crimes following January 6th’s events.

This is essentially rewarding the screaming, demon-child on the six hour flight when you already have a headache and haven't slept in days. The child on the airplane went and wrecked the flight attendant's galley, knocks the passengers' drinks over, kicks seats, and unleashes hell. When the flight attendant reprimands the child, the parent decides to give the kid a piece of every passengers' snack. The parent justifies their actions by saying their "little angel" was “wrongly disciplined” by the flight attendant. Everyone with a braincell is #pissed.
IMO (In My Opinion)
The significance of this news should not be lost on anyone. The government is using the taxpayers money to essentially reward bad behavior. While there are dozens of marginalized communities in this country that have yet to receive the proper reparations for the atrocities committed against their people, white Americans, criminals that used aggression to trespass on government property, are now being financially compensated to overturn any justice that was enacted against them. How is it that the oppressors are finding ways to once again morph accountability into victimization?
Unfortunately this is yet another way to invalidate the experiences of marginalized communities in this country and subconsciously turn “non-political” into MAGA supporters. The undertone of this fund is essentially saying “if you stick up for Trump enough to the point that you commit violence, you will be rewarded.” It doesn't take a scientist to tell you that this is extremely harmful and should be getting an abundance of attention from the American people.
What's more, citizens that identify as Democrats or far left are now having money removed from their hard earned pay checks to reward the behavior of MAGA extremists. Personally, there is nothing more disheartening than knowing there is a portion of money from the hard work I’ve done that will go to those MAGA imbeciles. White supremacy is now being rewarded on a very large scale, and the citizens of this country should not only be concerned but outraged.
If you take anything from this, know that it is not enough to just be outraged. The MAGA administration is counting on your silence. The best way to oppose these atrocities is by being restlessly vocal. Use your social media to educate those in your circle. Have uncomfortable conversations. Join local and national groups like the ACLU that are hellbent on preserving our civil liberties. I am a firm believer in closed mouths don’t get fed. General concern is not enough to make a change. Be loud and get vocal about what is bothering you about this administration because that is the only way we, as Americans, can protect democracy in this country and make any semblance of a difference.
